Clinical Interests: Hello! My name is Sophia Fidai. My primary interests are working with teenagers and adults in long-term individual treatment. I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, chronic trauma, and relational concerns. As a first-generation Pakistani-American, I also have a fond interest in working with individuals who wish to explore topics of multiculturalism and cultural identity development. I also have a background in behavioral medicine and can treat various health concerns such as sleep/insomnia, women’s health, and chronic pain.
Therapeutic Approach: I believe the relationship between a client and therapist is the centerpiece of successful individual therapy. I create a safe and trusting relationship by attuning to client’s emotional experiences and collaborating on therapy goals. I work with clients to co-create a narrative to understand how a client’s past experiences and relationships have shaped who they are today. My approach to therapy is often unstructured, as I like to follow the lead the client. After all, the client knows their story and themselves the best. I tailor my approach to meet the needs of each individual client. Ultimately, I believe building a therapeutic relationship is the catalyst for creating change in how clients view themselves, others, and the world around them.
Background: I received my Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) from University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology. I also have a master’s degree (MA) in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine. I received my undergraduate degree (BA) from Boston University with a major in Psychology.
