Therapeutic Approach: I draw primarily from cognitive behavioral therapy approach, helping individuals understand how certain core beliefs influence their thoughts and behaviors and how some of those thoughts and behaviors may not be helpful in their day-to-day life. I work with individuals on a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, problems with relationships, and developmental issues such as ADHD and learning disabilities. Each person has a unique perspective on life, altered by complexities of life’s circumstances, therefore I tailor my approach to psychotherapy depending on the individual’s unique characteristics, life history, and worldview. I draw from other therapeutic perspectives depending on how to best serve the client, such as influences from early childhood relationships, and how those relationships may influence how they view themselves and others.
In addition to the issues listed above, I have specialized training in providing therapy to clients with complex medical issues, and how those issues factor into a person’s emotional well-being. Living with chronic medical issues can be overwhelming for individuals and their families, and it is often helpful to express these feelings to someone who understands the challenges associated with these problems. I utilize a mixture of cognitive-behavioral interventions and mindfulness based stress reduction to help these individuals and their caregivers.
I also provide psychological assessment for children ages 6 and up, adults, and older adults.
