Licensed Psychologist

Kristy Nguyen, Ph.D.

Therapeutic approach: I was formally trained in psychodynamic theory although I am eclectic in practice— I believe that each individual has unique needs and will strive to meet them by taking an integrative and fluid approach. Additionally, I believe that at the cornerstone of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, which not only provides support through one’s journey to self understanding and healing but can be used as a tool to improve relationships at home, school, or in the workplace. I also believe in cultural humility and recognize how social, cultural and historical factors impact the therapeutic space. I work with individuals from across the lifespan and am skilled at serving children and adults alike.

Background: I received my BA from University of California, Santa Cruz in Psychology and my MA was obtained from Columbia University in Clinical Psychology. My PhD, also in Clinical Psychology, is from the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University in New York. Accordingly, my internship training was completed at a city Hospital in the Bronx, New York.
