Andrew Vandernoot, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Therapeutic Approach: My practice is devoted to helping adults, couples, adolescents, and children, aiding in the challenges and crises that have emerged that are causing distress. I firmly believe that successful treatment is based upon a collaborative and interactive process, helping to gather a greater awareness and sense of mindfulness of who you are and how you impact others. Through this process, our work together aims to provide deeper insight, a greater sense of well- being, and an increased ability to implement more effective life strategies. I hope to offer a safe, empathic, and confidential experience, helping people with the following issues:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Feelings of emptiness or loneliness Relationship difficulties
- Self-esteem issues
- Work stress
- Relationship issues
- Excessive alcohol/drug use
- Trauma
- Difficulty controlling emotions/behavior Adjustment difficulties
- Issues around grief/loss
Background: I received my PH.D. In clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, and have worked in both clinics and private practice for the past 15 years. My pre- doctoral training was at the Maple Counseling Center and the Wright Institute, counseling adults, couples, and families with a psychodynamic, depth oriented approach. I completed my post-doctoral training at Reiss-Davis Child Guidance Center, working with children, adolescents, parents, and families, with an emphasis in a psychoanalytic/relational approach.
