Risa Takeuchi, Psy.D.
Psychological Assistant

Therapeutic Approach: Seeking psychotherapy can be intimidating and uncomfortable as you are taking a courageous step. When working with clients, I focus on providing a warm, empathic, compassionate, authentic, and non-judgmental environment and building a collaborative connection. I’m interested in learning about the client’s environment, relationships, and culture to help clients understand the factors contributing to their unique struggles. Depending on clients’ needs, expectations, and values, my therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic, person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, family systems, and multicultural theories. I enjoy guiding clients through self-discovery as they connect to their inner strengths while learning new coping strategies to restore their sense of self and well-being. I look forward to supporting your process of healing, finding solutions, making positive changes, and creating a life you hope for.

I work with individuals with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, family/relationship issues, stress management, college/graduate stressors, identity development, acculturation, life transitions, substance abuse, grief, among others. I also provide therapy in Japanese.
