Licensed Psychologist

Amanda Gurtis, Psy.D.

Therapeutic Approach: Seeking psychological services can be an intimidating decision to make. Therefore, I strive to meet an individual at a level they feel comfortable with by providing a safe, nonjudgmental space, so that you can freely express yourself. Often times, individuals seek therapy in order to better understand why they function as they do. It is important to remember that you are the expert on you. My role is to be that of a mirror in order to reflect to you what is being presented and to explore this presentation. There are specific theories, foundations, and interventions I use that may include: psychodynamic, strengths-based, person-centered, and cognitive-behavioral theories, in order to design approaches that meet your needs at the moment. My goal is to work with you collaboratively to gain further insight, find solutions, and draw on the strengths that are within you.

Background: I obtained my Clinical-Community Psy.D. from the University of La Verne in 2016. I completed my post-doctoral training at a State Hospital in Pennsylvania. Throughout my years of training, I have provided psychological assessment, individual therapy, and group therapy to diverse populations in various settings that included a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, psychiatric hospitals, and a community mental health center focusing on survivors of child and sexual abuse and their families.
