My goal in working with clients is to better understand your life story and help you increase personal growth and overall well-being. It is my honor to be part of your journey as I get to know more about your values, history, background, and relationships. Depending on your specific needs, our goals in therapy can include increasing understanding of yourself (e.g., understanding your emotions), learning new and effective coping skills, and finding ways to establish more meaningful relationships. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to foster more awareness, learning, and empowerment.
I have worked with a broad range of client issues including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, disordered eating behaviors, stress management, PTSD, trauma, adjustment related issues, grief and loss, ADHD, and interpersonal difficulties. I practice evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy to help you achieve your therapy goals. I am also fluent in Cantonese, speak Mandarin Chinese, and enjoy working with bilingual clients. I look forward meeting with you and helping you navigate your life journey.
Background: I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University (APA-Accredited) and completed my B.A. in Psychology from UCLA. I have worked with young-to-older adults in settings such as university counseling centers and health centers. I completed my pre-doctoral clinical internship (APA-Accredited) at UC San Diego and my postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral health also at UCSD. Additionally, I have clinical and research interests in multicultural counseling, Asian American mental health, personality, and behavioral health.
